Fundraising Research – Getting Our Ducks In A Row

There are some key basics necessary for effective fundraising. Understanding the principles of philanthropy is fundamental, but in the course of the day-to-day work of development, we often miss a basic step that can make or break a development program – developing a strong and credible prospect base for any organization’s fundraising efforts. We all have questions like:

– Where do we find information about funding opportunities?
– How do we know if our prospects are the right ones for our organization, or our program or project?
How many prospects do we need to have to meet our fundraising goal?
How do we track these prospects so that we are being effective in our cultivation efforts?

These questions, and many more, will be answered in the two-day (one-and-a-half hours each day) virtual workshop “Fundraising Research – Getting Our Ducks in a Row”.  Presenters Anjali Kaul Zutshi and Kristy Peloquin will share information about the nitty-gritty of development research for foundations, state and federal funding sources, corporations, and individuals. You will also learn about how to translate all your research into credible prospect lists and into reasonable revenue projections, and leave the workshops armed with tools that will make your research work

Anjali Kaul Zutshi, Executive Director (far left) and Kristy Peloquin, Development Manager of the Friends (right) of the Texas Historical Commission, bring to this workshop their collective 40+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and management, both as nonprofit executives and as active serving board members as well. Anjali has spent her time in the nonprofit sector understanding and building her knowledge of nonprofit governance, financial management, budgeting, exploring and implementing non-conventional financial mechanisms and structures to help nonprofits succeed in their mission. Kristy brings her expertise as an educator teaching English at the post-secondary level and her significant writing and editing skills, as well as her experience as an executive Director of a small children’s nonprofit to this workshop.
