Effective Grant Writing – A Hands-on Workshop

This two-day grant writing workshop (9:00 AM – 4:30 PM daily) is designed to help nonprofit development staff, board members, or volunteers within small and medium-sized organizations develop strong grant requests.

Designed for both, those who are new to grant writing or those who are more experienced, this workshop will include detailed instruction on:
a) researching your grant making prospects and building the appropriate prospect list based on your program/project;
b) understanding the full application process including “grant cycles”;
c) outlining and writing writing a “Letter of Inquiry/Interest” (LOI); and
d) persuasive writing techniques, and structuring your proposal.

The workshop will also focus on outlining the most effective evaluation process for your grant, and developing reasonable budgets for your program/project to support your grant proposals.

Day two of the workshop will also include time for participants to work on the development of a draft proposal, with opportunity for detailed feedback through peer and presenters’ review. Participants will leave the workshop with a draft proposal that they can finish out and submit to potential funders.

Reading and resource materials will be sent to attendee prior to the first day of the workshop.

Refreshments and lunch will be provided on each day. In addition, attendees will also receive an invitation to a wine-and-cheese reception on the evening of November 7th, hosted by the Friends of the Texas Historical Commission. This reception will also be held at the Casa Navarro State Historic Site.
